Implants

Implants

A removed tooth is the reason why we decide to use an implant. Tooth loss is sometimes caused by a random event, e.g., an accident that makes it impossible to save the damaged teeth, or very significant, long-term neglect of oral hygiene that rules out effective conservative treatment.

In some cases, implants are also placed for aesthetic reasons. However, the health aspect is more important. The gap left after tooth extraction has a serious impact on the preservation of other teeth within the Patient's maxilla or mandible.

Why is it important to replace missing teeth with implants?

If we do not quickly fill the gaps in our teeth, the bone begins to collapse and atrophy. This causes further complications, because the neighboring tooth, lacking support, shifts towards the gap of the lost tooth. Like a domino effect, the remaining teeth may also move. In this way, serious changes in the oral cavity occur.

Implant structure

The implant consists of three elements. The first is a few-millimeter cone-shaped screw that is permanently placed in the bone. To a foundation built this way, a crown is added, which is the element that will now be the new tooth. For the whole structure to function properly, a connector screwed between the screw and the crown is also necessary. Implants are made of titanium or zirconium. These are fully biocompatible materials, meaning that the body treats them like natural tissue. Thanks to this, no infections occur, and the implant can successfully serve for many years.

What are implants?

An implant is a several-millimeter cone-shaped screw made of titanium or zirconium. It is permanently placed in the bone. It replaces the root of a tooth. Prosthetic elements, such as a bridge or an artificial tooth professionally called an implant-supported crown, are attached to implants. The material from which the implant is made makes the body think it is natural bone and permanently fuses with it.

Implant placement is a process

Depending on the methodology used, it can last from a few to several dozen days. It is important whether we are dealing with a single implant or multiple ones. Equally significant is the exact moment after tooth extraction at which the implantation process is carried out.

In the event of accidents, sudden and unforeseen tooth loss, or a previously planned tooth extraction, placing an implant is a process that usually comes down to two or three visits to the dental clinic.

We proceed differently when the tooth loss occurred many years ago. Placing an implant in that spot after such a long time usually involves an additional bone tissue regeneration procedure, and consequently, a longer treatment process.

If the time between tooth extraction and implant placement is a few days or weeks, there is no need for regeneration of the bone on which the implant will be placed. It is different when we decide on implant treatment when the missing teeth have been gone for many years. In such cases, the process is significantly prolonged, as in most instances, prior bone regeneration of the site where the implant will be placed is required. Regeneration is performed using a bone substitute material, whose task is to strengthen and/or supplement the bone surface where the implant will later be placed.

Is it possible to accelerate this process? In some cases, yes. The development of medical technology currently allows for much faster implant placement. At Luxdentica, we use the "Teeth-in-An-Hour TM" method, which allows for the creation of an individual patient implant using tomographic scans and 3D software.  The Nobel Procera Design computer program makes it possible to plan the procedure with extremely high precision and design the anatomically and functionally optimal position of the implants.

Implants in 1 day

Using the latest technologies, our specialists are able to perform the procedure and attach a crown or bridge to the inserted implants in a single day. This is currently one of the standard procedures at the Luxdentica clinic.

Consultations

You will get all the necessary information during the consultation. We will answer your questions and present all possible treatment options, including alternative ones. Only then will you make a decision about the best treatment for you.

Implants at Luxdentica

Depending on the individual needs of the Patient, at Luxdentica we offer several types of implants, the price of which depends primarily on the quality and durability of the materials used in their production. The price of a tooth on an implant includes anesthesia, X-rays, sutures, implant exposure, titanium abutment, healing screw, porcelain crown on a nickel-free dental alloy, and follow-up visits. A detailed specification of the solutions offered by Luxdentica can be found on the website implantkrakow.pl
