Dental treatment with the use of a laser

Dental treatment with the use of a laser

Modern dental surgeries are equipped with excellent medical equipment, thanks to which we can perform many treatments in very many different areas of dentistry. One of the universal devices recently made available at the Luxdentica clinic is the multi-tasking Lasotronix Smart’m PRO dental laser.

How does a laser work?

The laser operates on three mutually complementary wavelengths, thanks to which treatment with its use covers diagnostics, therapy, and post-treatment care. This device enables our team to safely perform a very wide range of dental procedures.

In which areas do we use the laser at the Luxdentica clinic in Krakow?

Laser therapy is used in prosthodontics, surgery, implantology, periodontics, endodontics, and aesthetic dentistry. By using the appropriate wavelength and wave intensity, we utilize the device in, among others, the following dental procedures:

  • laser frenulectomy – the procedure involves cutting the mucous membrane connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth. The indication for the upper lip frenulum procedure is a true diastema.

  • canal disinfection – an effective way to eliminate bacteria from root canals, e.g., during endodontic procedures (root canal treatment).

  • treatment of aphthae and herpes – inflammatory changes on the mucous membrane and lip inside the oral cavity can be very painful and take a long time to heal. The laser helps to reduce or eliminate discomfort, speed up the healing process, or even inhibit the development of an early lesion.

  • possibility of whitening during a single exposure – laser whitening yields very good results in improving the original color of the teeth. The color can be up to 6-12 shades lighter even after just one session.

  • treatment of inflammation – significantly reduces healing time after dental procedures, and also accelerates the wound scarring process, e.g., after tooth extraction (e.g., dry socket).

  • reduction of post-treatment swelling – effectively and permanently alleviates changes resulting from, for example, surgical intervention.

  • eliminating tooth neck hypersensitivity – the laser seals the external openings and reduces the diameter of the dentinal tubules, effectively eliminating pain.

  • treatment of mucosal lesions – thanks to the controlled processes of the laser's impact on soft tissues, coagulation occurs, which makes this method highly effective compared to classic surgical methods.

What are the advantages of using a laser?

  • all procedures performed using a laser are safe and comfortable

  • faster post-treatment healing

  • no bleeding during most procedures

  • analgesic effect

  • possibility of removing bacteria without the use of antibiotic therapy

  • trouble-free histopathological assessment of the removed lesions
