Panadent in occlusal treatment

Panadent in occlusal treatment

Occlusal problems affect many patients. At the Luxdentica Dental Center, we apply the latest and most effective solutions in all areas of dental treatment. Among the modern devices and procedures available in our dental offices, we can find, among others, the Panadent articulator, which allows for the precise resolution of many problems concerning prosthodontics and occlusal disorders.

Goal

The proper relationship between the lower and upper teeth and the correct positioning of the temporomandibular joint is the primary goal of orthodontic treatment and proper articulation, meaning the correct contact of the upper teeth with the lower teeth, during the biting and chewing process.

Appropriate calibration of the temporomandibular joint eliminates the sensation of teeth grinding or jaw clicking – the most common occlusal complaints. Occlusal treatment depends on many parameters as well as the individual characteristics and ailments of the patient.

The most common symptoms of occlusal disease or improper articulation

  • Discomfort when chewing - subsequently causes permanent tooth and facial muscle pain. It may result from overloading of the periodontium. Pain can also affect the temporomandibular joints;

  • Worn-down teeth - as a result of unconscious grinding against each other, most often during sleep;

  • Chipped enamel - just like in the case of teeth grinding, this is one of the symptoms of traumatic occlusion;

  • Loose teeth - periodontitis;

  • Damage to dental fillings;

  • Damage to prosthetic restorations, such as bridges or crowns;

  • Thermal sensitivity;

  • Gingival recession (receding gums);

  • Numbness of facial muscles;

  • Migraine headaches - caused by excessive tension within the mandible and maxilla (occlusal balance is disrupted, i.e., uneven work of individual elements of the craniofacial complex leading to compensation, which ultimately leads to dysfunction of the entire system);

  • Ringing in the head or cracking of the jaw or maxilla within the bite area.

Methods

Among the methods used to eliminate occlusal problems, we can find both major surgeries and procedures in the field of dental surgery, as well as basic exercises for the muscles responsible for the proper functioning of the maxilla and mandible. This may include:

  • Tooth reconstruction procedure;

  • Bite alignment with orthodontic braces;

  • Surgical procedure – alignment of the maxilla and mandible;

  • Equilibration – selective grinding of teeth for their even alignment;

  • Non-invasive exercises for the mandibular muscles.

Treatment at Luxdentica

At the Luxdentica Dentistry Center, we use the Panadent articulation system, thanks to which we perfectly transfer occlusion and articulation data from the patient's mouth to the prosthetic laboratory on models, where we make dentures taking into account individual anatomical features and the specifics of the temporomandibular joints' function.

Thanks to the application of this procedure, we obtain highly accurate and precise information about the processes occurring in the patient's bite and can apply the appropriate dental and orthodontic treatment.
