A holistic approach to dental treatment is slowly becoming the absolute standard. All thanks to the application and widespread access to apps and systems that resolve any dilemmas of implantology, prosthetic, or orthodontic treatment in the blink of an eye. DSD merges all processes and enables extremely precise smile design for every patient. Comprehensive, individual, precise – these three words briefly capture the idea of Digital Smile Design, which is successfully implemented at the Luxdentica Dental Center in Krakow.

Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a modern tool used in aesthetic dentistry, thanks to which the Patient receives a visualization of the finished design of their new teeth before starting treatment. Achieving the right dental treatment results is not a matter of chance. It is the result of a consistent and systematic approach to procedures, diagnostics, communication, and planning.The biggest advantage of DSD is its visualization. The image viewed together connects the dentist, technician, and patient at the same time, allowing them to participate in the joint development and implementation of the treatment methodology. Simple, image-dominated communication, graphical representation of the work progress, and displaying the final results on a mobile or tablet screen allow for quick understanding of the entire treatment cycle and eliminate any misunderstandings.
Individually
Every person is different. No two identical structures exist within the human face. Effective smile design is based on the individual anatomical features of the patient. The whole process begins with a photo session. During this time, we carefully observe how the patient smiles, how they speak, and how their facial expressions work. Dialogue with the patient is very important, as it allows us to get to know their character and personality better. All this is done to ensure that the design of the new smile is as tailored to their character traits as possible. Only this type of modern, interdisciplinary, and holistic approach ensures that the new smile will be not only beautiful but also consistent with the person's character. The photo session is supported by short video recordings to observe all of the patient's facial expression features. Based on this, a detailed treatment plan is developed, and an individual model of the new smile is designed.
Precisely
Precise, digitized analysis of all conditions (on biological and functional levels) occurring between teeth, mouth, smile, facial features, or facial expressions, through which emotions are expressed, allows for outstanding results. On a computer screen, using a program that takes into account all previously loaded photo and video data, we design a smile together. We can, among other things, correct the position of the teeth, lengthen them, close gaps between them, or remove discoloration. On the screen, the patient sees their teeth in various lengths, shades, and shapes. They can choose for themselves which option suits them best. As a result, a virtual 2D model of the new smile is created. DSD allows for matching the teeth to the shape and color of the lips, facial expressions, character traits, and physiognomy. In this technology, we can properly select veneers, lengthen teeth, or correct the smile line.
