School dentist visit
A new school year has begun, and with it, many parents are trying to organize and secure all aspects related to education and managing their children's extra activities. Once that is done, it is also worth scheduling... a routine check-up with the dentist.
Statistics
Paraphrasing the lyrics of a famous song, Children happily ran to school, having cleaned their teeth earlier, washed them well, we wonder whether these words are true or if they deviate somewhat from the real pattern. Indeed, do our children brush and clean their teeth properly several times a day? Do they take proper care of their oral hygiene? Do they control the condition of their teeth? Unfortunately, it seems not, as the latest research shows that as many as 9 out of 10 teenagers and children in Poland have dental problems! Dental problems already affect 39% of children aged 0 to 2! In the 3-5 age group, this percentage doubles and reaches as much as 80%. In the 6-9 age group, it is already 88%, according to the research.
Dental checkup
That is why it is worth and necessary to start the school year with a dental check-up of a young person. According to the NFZ (National Health Fund) guidelines, children and adolescents under 18 years of age are entitled to, among others, the following reimbursed dental services:
routine medical check-up (three times in a calendar year);
sealing of the fissures of the first permanent molars (sixes) as part of prophylaxis – until the age of eight;
varnishing of all permanent teeth;
light-cured fillings (so-called white fillings) from canine to canine (from "three" to "three");
impregnation of the dentine of primary teeth;
complete preparation and reconstruction of a cavity in a primary tooth;
cosmetic coverage of enamel hypoplasia in permanent teeth;
endodontic (root canal) treatment of all teeth and infected teeth;
treatment of periodontal diseases;
surgical procedures, such as: surgical exposure of an impacted tooth, surgical removal of tooth germs for orthodontic indications, root resection of anterior teeth.
In addition to preventive dental services, which include varnishing of permanent teeth, sealing of the fissures of the first permanent molars, and dentine impregnation, children are additionally entitled to professional caries prevention as part of comprehensive, preventive dental services provided at times coinciding with pediatric health check-ups (in the second, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, tenth, twelfth, fifteenth, and sixteenth year of life).
