Wisdom teeth extraction
Wisdom teeth - this is very often how the eights are called, which are the most troublesome of all the teeth that grow during our lifetime. You are probably wondering why these teeth are supposed to be a problem?
Wisdom teeth
The point is that the growth of these wisdom teeth very often causes a disruption in the alignment of the teeth in the arch, resulting in malocclusions. Therefore, it is worth considering a procedure aimed at getting rid of wisdom teeth. In our clinic, we can perform the surgical extraction of wisdom teeth very quickly and, above all, effectively.
Wisdom teeth removal is a procedure that in the past was associated with pain. Currently, however, we do not have to feel pain at all during tooth extraction. It turns out that wisdom teeth can be removed not only painlessly, but even without feeling any discomfort. At the Luxdentica Dental Center, we perform tooth extraction procedures every day. In the case of wisdom teeth extraction, we use the latest equipment, which was designed with patients' comfort in mind. Wisdom teeth removal is performed in our clinic by doctors specializing in surgery. Their extensive, long-term experience allows for the extraction of wisdom teeth in such a way that the patient practically does not feel it. Of course, we use anesthesia, the effect of which is supervised by an anesthesiologist.
Wisdom teeth can grow at different ages. Most often, however, they grow in people around 20 years of age. The problem is that these teeth can misalign the bite, so our smile may not be as perfect as it used to be.
Third molars, also called wisdom teeth, are molars that grow in the maxilla and mandible between the ages of 17 and 21. However, not everyone has them, and in some people, even their buds do not appear.
Sometimes they develop over several years - there are cases when wisdom teeth appear only around the age of 40, or even much later – for example, in elderly people wearing dentures.
Why such disproportions in the development of wisdom teeth in individual people? This is the result of evolution, i.e. the adaptation of the organism to the environment in which it lives. For several hundred years, humans have been eating increasingly processed food, which is why there is a gradual reduction of the jaws. As a species, we no longer need additional eighth molars for better grinding of food intake. Of course, nature did not design us all the same. Some people get all their wisdom teeth, others only two, and still others only their buds. In fact, recently in dental offices, dentists have observed a complete disappearance of the buds – zero trace of wisdom teeth.
Surgical wisdom tooth extraction - why you should consider having your third molars removed?
A major problem with wisdom teeth is maintaining proper oral hygiene - which leads to tooth decay. In the case of root canal treatment for wisdom teeth, it is usually very difficult to access the third molars and treat them effectively. Sometimes, growing wisdom teeth push against the other teeth, which is usually painful and can even lead to malocclusion or complications when treating other teeth. It is common for wisdom teeth to grow crookedly or into the cheek, which can cause gum inflammation and also form cysts on the gum. In some cases, wisdom teeth also prevent the proper fitting of orthodontic braces or dental prostheses.
Unerupted wisdom teeth, i.e., impacted wisdom teeth, are usually poorly positioned in the mandible or maxilla and therefore press against the neighboring second molars. A cyst and inflammation can form around them. Impacted wisdom teeth can also be the cause of frequent headaches or migraines.
What does the surgical removal of wisdom teeth look like?
This is a surgical procedure performed most often under local anesthesia. Wisdom teeth can be very deeply rooted, have an unusual shape and a varying number of roots. Therefore, complications can sometimes occur during the wisdom tooth extraction procedure.
Surgical extraction of a wisdom tooth usually takes about 30 minutes. After extraction, stitches are placed. The gap formed at the extraction site fills with blood. A blood clot forms in this place, which then dissolves spontaneously within two to three days. However, when the clot is washed out earlier, a very painful and slow-healing inflammation called a dry socket may form in its place. Therefore, it is extremely important to strictly follow the wound healing procedure after wisdom tooth extraction; that is, avoid hot drinks and meals, smoking, strenuous physical effort, eating hard foods that require heavy chewing, and, in the case of women, the use of oral contraceptives.
You must also not drink through a straw or blow your nose (a strong stream of air can damage the wound). In the event that a fever or bleeding occurs, you should consult a dentist.

Of course, once the anesthesia wears off after the procedure, you may feel some discomfort for a while. However, it should be noted that wounds after surgical extraction of wisdom teeth heal very quickly, as many people have already experienced.
When the first signs suggesting the eruption of wisdom teeth appear, it is worth thinking about visiting our clinic right away. Thus, a better solution may sometimes be to remove the wisdom teeth, which in reality are of no use to us anyway. There is more trouble with them than benefit. There are very few cases where the growth of wisdom teeth does not cause negative consequences.
