Zirconia implants

Zirconia implants

Tooth loss is not only an aesthetic problem, but also a functional one. It can lead to bone loss, bite disorders, and overloading of the remaining teeth. Modern implantology allows for the effective restoration of missing teeth, restoring chewing comfort and the natural appearance of your smile. Zirconia implants are one of the most advanced solutions, especially valued by patients who expect maximum aesthetics and biocompatibility.

What are zirconia implants?

Zirconia implants are made of zirconium dioxide – a ceramic material with high strength and excellent biological compatibility.

Their key features are:

  • no metal content,

  • high biocompatibility with tissues,

  • natural, light color similar to a tooth,

  • no risk of discoloration,

  • excellent aesthetics in the gum area.

Thanks to these properties, zirconia implants perform particularly well in the aesthetic zone.

Who are zirconia implants for?

This solution is especially recommended for patients:

  • with allergies or intolerance to metals,

  • expecting the highest aesthetics of a smile,

  • with a thin gingival biotype,

  • looking for an alternative to titanium implants.

The course of implant treatment

Implant treatment involves several stages:

1. Diagnostics
A detailed diagnosis is performed, including a tomographic scan, which allows to assess individual bone conditions and plan the procedure.

2. Implant placement
The zirconium implant is placed in the jaw or mandible bone under local anesthesia.

3. Healing period
The process of implant integration with the bone usually takes from 3 to 6 months.

4. Prosthetic reconstruction
An individually crafted prosthetic crown is fixed onto the implant, matching the color and shape of the natural teeth.

The course of implant treatment using zirconia implants

Implant treatment is a multi-step process carried out by an experienced dental team. The first step is a thorough diagnosis: we perform a computed tomography scan and analyze the condition of the bone and gums. This allows us to precisely plan the implant placement and predict the best aesthetic result.

Treatment stages:

  1. Implant screw placement – the dental surgeon inserts the zirconia implant into the jaw or mandible bone. This material is biocompatible and integrates excellently with the bone tissue.

  2. Healing period – after the screw is placed, the integration phase takes place, which lasts from 3 to even 6 months, depending on the patient's individual conditions.

  3. Prosthetic crown placement – after complete healing, a ceramic or porcelain crown is attached to the implant, perfectly matched in color and shape to the natural teeth.

Patients using zirconia implants emphasize that the procedure does not differ from the procedure with titanium implants, and the comfort and visual effect are significantly better.

Advantages of zirconia implants

  • very high aesthetics,

  • no metal elements,

  • biocompatibility and safety,

  • resistance to discoloration,

  • comfort of use without affecting taste or temperature,

  • stability and durability of the restoration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are zirconia implants safe and durable?

Yes. Zirconia implants are made of zirconium oxide, which is completely biocompatible and does not cause allergic reactions. It is a highly durable material, resistant to wear, discoloration, and corrosion. When properly placed, a zirconia implant can last for many years, providing not only excellent aesthetics but also full functionality.

For whom are zircon implants recommended?

Zirconia implants are particularly recommended for people allergic to metals (e.g., titanium), patients with high aesthetic demands (especially in the anterior region of the dental arch), and anyone who expects the most natural effect of replacing a missing tooth. They are also suitable for those who care about the biocompatibility of materials implanted into the body.

What is the difference between zirconia implants and titanium implants?

The primary difference is the material – zirconia contains no metal and does not cause gum discoloration. It has a color close to a natural tooth and better mimics their appearance. Zirconia implants do not conduct electricity, are temperature-resistant, and do not interact with other dental materials. In terms of durability and integration with the bone, zirconia is just as effective as titanium.

Is the zirconium implant placement procedure painful?

The procedure itself is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless. After the procedure, there may be slight discomfort, swelling, or soreness at the implant site, which usually subsides within a few days.

How long does dental implant treatment using zirconia implants take?

The entire process, from implanting the screw to placing the crown, usually takes from 3 to 6 months. This time depends on the healing rate of the bone and gums, as well as individual medical indications.
